Happy Marriage!
This week's article isn't about the usual Orlando family law problems we discuss like divorce, or child support, or any other unfortunate legal problem. It's a series of tips on how to never have to deal with any of those issues. This week's article reminds us all of what's truly important and what our priorities should be. After all, there's more to family law than the bad things...if you need an Orlando lawyer to draft a will or help with step-parent adoption, by all means, let me know! Enjoy this little breath of fresh air!

An Orlando Lawyer's Update on Domestic Violence
by Jennifer Dane on 08/23/11
Domestic violence rates have sky rocketed in Central. In 2011 7 murders have been attributed to domestic violence, whereas there were only 3 murders in 2010 attributed to domestic violence. (source www.WFTV.com). Organizations such as Harbor House of Central Florida in conjunction with the United Way have teamed up to draw awareness to the growing problem in our communities. See full press release at http://www.harborhousefl.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/August-23-Press-Packet.pdf or visit http://www.harborhousefl.com/ for more information on Harbor House of Central Florida.
Oftentime victims of domestic violence experience shame and fear associated with the violence. It is important to know that you do have options and our community and legal system have resources in place to help you and your family escape your abuser. The hardest step is often the first step, but taking it can change or even save your life.
If you have questions about what legal steps you can take to protect yourself please contact me, Jennifer T. Dane, directly and I will discuss with you your rights and options.
